Stand-up on hind paws
Just a reminder that if you want to see me do my act where I dress up as a dog, with ears and an animatronic moving tail, and do stand-up from the point of view of a dog, you can see that tonight Wednesday June 15th 7:30pm (doors at 7) at:
G&B Abandoning The Comfort Zone
Unit 1, West Ham Arches, Cranberry Ln, London E16 4BJ
Might be the last time I do this for a long time!
The latest details of all my upcoming gigs are in this post - I always pin the latest gig details to the top of the www.sorryisaidthat.biz front page.
Please help me win $10K
Also a reminder that I entered a fiction contest with a $10K first prize. I would really like $10K, and I think my entry turned out pretty well. However, the level of ‘engagement’ (views, likes and comments) will be a factor if the judges are tied.
Other entries are getting featured in the Fiction Top Stories section, but mine hasn’t so far. If you haven’t already, please take two minutes to help me by going to my story, The Thunder Valley Guided Dragon Slaying Experience, and pressing the heart button and leaving a brief comment.
You have to sign in to do that - it’s free and instead of making an account, you can just log in with Facebook, Twitter or Apple (people have had problems with the Google option so maybe avoid that).
The site works well on phones, you don’t need to wait until you’re back at your computer.
You don’t even need to read the story, just a brief positive comment would be fine.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to do it already! I have 17 comments so far. I promise I will stop going on about this once I have 20 comments.
The story is about Earth tourists visiting a Dungeons & Dragons type fantasy world. Here is an extract:
When I was done setting everything up, I took a moment to mop my brow and look over the other stalls that had sprung up. There were now signs everywhere, most of them written to appeal to the sensibilities of customers from Earth.

ORIGINAL AUTHENTIC THUNDER VALLEY DRAGON HUNTING SAFARI
That wasn’t our sign. Ours read:
AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL THUNDER VALLEY GUIDED DRAGON SLAYING EXPERIENCE
The other sign belonged to our competition, the rival guided hunt run by Gerot Hilrub and his family. Despite what the sign said, ours was definitely the original: my Dad had been guiding tourists for years before the Hilrub clan arrived in Rivercliff.
Recommended things
Backstage with Katherine Ryan (Amazon Prime) - the gimmick is that they film the comics backstage at a stand-up show as well as showing you their routines. Obviously they’re playing up to the cameras to some extent, but the format was especially interesting to me as a would-be comic. Katherine Ryan is mad that more men than women are watching it, so only watch it if you’re a woman, I guess.
The Boys Season 3 (Amazon Prime)
Sniper Elite 5 is on Xbox Game Pass and is well worth checking out.
Also, if you have an Alexa device, there is an Alexa skill that lets you turn on the current-gen Xbox consoles, turn them off, pause games and so on, which is handy.
